Curtis Ryder describes his experience using XL Porosity+ to prep for moisture mitigation on an abated concrete slab.

Curtis Ryder, owner of C.J. Ryder Flooring in New Hampshire, describes a recent job at a local elementary school where XL Porosity+ was used to help with moisture mitigation in the school’s gym and multi purpose room. “We were contracted by the city to moisture mitigate a 4,500 square foot slab and install new sheet vinyl after another company abated the VCT and adhesive.” He continues, “I noticed several dark, oily looking stains on the concrete, and suspected the abatement chemicals were left to dwell too long.”

The Cleaning Process

Curtis explains, “We followed the XL Porosity+ directions. Sprayed the product on the slab, allowed it to dwell, scrubbed with buffer machines, rinsed with garden hoses, wet vacuumed, and repeated the process.” When asked about XL Porosity+’s impact on the job, Curtis answers, “I noticed how the product bubbled and foamed, like pouring peroxide on a wound.” He notes, “I could see it darken as it pulled the chemicals out of the concrete.”

The Results

From start to completion, the project took one week – two days on the cleaning process, two days for moisture mitigation, and the last three for the sheet vinyl installation and heat welding. Curtis describes the overall result. “It is a smooth, flat, beautiful looking floor. And we have a very happy and impressed customer!”
