01. FOR Carpet
Top Tips for Maintaining Carpet
Here are the top tips of Do’s & Don’ts to maintaining your carpet.
Blot the spot
Don’t just leave the spill to dry, blot the spot with a clean white cotton towel.
Vacuuming is key
Vacuuming is your key to a long happy life of your carpet, if you can see soil (on the surface) that means there is a lot of soil below the surface.
Keep the dirt outside
Vacuum or sweep your welcome/walk off matt often… keep the dirt outside.
Replace your vacuum bag
Replace your vacuum bag or empty the container frequently, this allows the vacuum motor greater suction.
Carpet cleaning yourself
If you are doing carpet cleaning yourself, apply the chemistry to the carpet using a garden type pump up sprayer and only use fresh clean water in your extractor.
02. FOR TILE & GROUT
Top Tips for Maintaining Tile & Grouted Floors
Here are the top tips of Do’s & Don’ts to maintaining your tile / grouted floors.
Use a good grout sealer
Use a good grout sealer right after installation like Aqua mix Sealers Choice Gold or Miracle Brand 511 impregnator sealer.
DIY cleaning options
Looking for DIY cleaning options? Try the following:
- A solution of a ½ cup baking soda with a ¼ cup peroxide can be used to clean grout
- Vinegar (50/50 solution) is a mild acid and can be used as well
- The third option is household bleach couple oz per cup.
Remember do not mix vinegar solution and bleach solutions — rinse thoroughly as to not create chlorine gas!!!
Clean up loose debris & material
Sand and grit can dull the glazed surfaces. Sweep or vacuum your tile floors regularly to keep them from getting dull.
Watch for soap residue
If your tiles look cloudy after cleaning, you might be dealing with soap residue. You could also try a homemade cleaner with mild acid (such as fresh lemon juice) on ceramic or porcelain tiles (but never on stone tiles).
03. FOR LVT / WOOD
Top Tips for Maintaining LVT / Wood Floors
Here are the top tips of Do’s & Don’ts to maintaining your LVT &wood floors.
Don’t expect LVT to be a no maintenance floor, gravity happens.
Dust mop or vacuum
Dust mop or vacuum (suction only, no beater bar) prior to wet cleaning.
Use as little moisture possible
Use as little moisture as possible when cleaning any wood floor.
Microfiber cleaning pads
Use of Microfiber cleaning pads will enhance the cleaning process.
Try a soft bristle brush
Use of a soft bristle brush should be used on textured LVT to assist the soil removal.
Extend the life of your Flooring.
Luster is an excellent solution to revive and refresh tired looking Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) floors. Not only does it thoroughly clean LVT and LVP flooring, it also diminishes the visibility of micro-scratches caused by heavy foot traffic, chair and table casters, etc.
