Because there is no wet extraction or soapy rinse, carpet can return to normal use sooner. GrabDry® is ideal for spots, frequently used areas, and periodic carpet refreshes throughout the home.
How to use
Before you begin: Vacuum the area to remove loose dirt and debris. Always test GrabDry® in a hidden area for colorfastness before treating a visible section.
- For heavily soiled areas, pre-treat the affected carpet with XL North Stain Remover.
- Lightly sprinkle GrabDry® over the carpet, working in sections no larger than 20 square feet.
- Work the product gently into the carpet with the included soft-bristle brush.
- Allow the treated area and cleaning compound to dry completely.
- Vacuum thoroughly to remove GrabDry® and the absorbed soil.

Well, today is the day I’ve been waiting for — my XL North “For The Home” products arrived!
As a 20-year industry veteran, I’m very familiar with XL North products, so I wanted to put these to the ultimate test: my own home.
I have three children under the age of 13 who are involved in all kinds of activities, from soccer to gymnastics and dance. And, of course, we also have a wonderfully energetic German Shorthaired Pointer who loves nothing more than rolling around on the carpet and tracking in just about everything you can imagine. 😂
I have two area rugs in my home, both with very different fibers. In the living room, we have a plush — albeit well-worn — wool area rug. Under the dining room table, we have a synthetic nylon rug.
So, I followed the directions and put the product to work.
First impression: it’s incredibly simple to use. Tear open the top of the bag, sprinkle the product onto the carpet, agitate it with a brush for spotting or, for larger areas, I’d recommend using a soft-bristle broom, carpet rake, or roamer. Then simply let it dry.
One tip I would give any homeowner: use a vacuum with a bag if you have one. It makes disposing of the cleaning compound much easier. Otherwise, the compound can get a little tricky to remove from the vacuum filter.
So, how did it perform?
The results were a bit of a mixed bag — but I want to be fair. Both of these rugs are more than 10 years old and have been professionally cleaned many times over the years, so I wasn’t expecting miracles.
One thing I can say with 100% certainty: it made a tremendous difference in the odors from our dog and the kids’ gym bags.
Huge win for odor neutralization.
The nylon rug showed some noticeable improvement, and there was definitely some vibrancy returning to the fibers. However, the areas that were originally white may simply be past the point of returning to their original color.
The wool rug was a little different. I did see a noticeable difference, particularly when looking at the rug from certain angles and in the light. It definitely appeared refreshed.
Overall
I’d call it a successful test.
One of the biggest advantages for me was that I could get a meaningful cleaning result without saturating the rugs and leaving my house wet for hours.
For a busy household with kids, pets, and everyday life happening on the carpet, that’s a pretty significant benefit.
I’m looking forward to continuing to put the XL North For The Home products through their paces and seeing how they perform over time.
